We had a 15 mile day with a pretty cool exposed ridgeline. It was fun hopping on the rocks.
We stopped at a shelter for a break that ended up being almost 2 hours long. The water was supposed to be 100 yards away on a side trail. Somehow we missed it and just bush wacked down the side of the mountain using the sound of the spring to guide us. Oops!
At the shelter we are staying at tonight, Will and I met an old guy who ate lunch with KISS at a gas station while they were driving to their second concert.
Wow! That is gorgeous! Are all those pictures of where you had to walk (except the first and next to the last one)? You had to climb those rocks? And the bit of dirt we see on the last picture is the trail? I believe I see rhododendron bushes in the 2nd,4th, and last picture. They get really pretty flowers all over them in the spring. Have you seen that? Great pictures! You didn't need to stay up all night to post, but I love them! :-)
ReplyDeleteMy senior project was approved today! :)

I am enjoying reading your notes about your adventure. I heard about your trip from your mom on the stamping board. I admire your courage and appreciate the glimpses of it that you are sharing with us. climb on sistah!
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures! What gorgeous views while walking the trail! The weather looks like it's finally co-operating.
ReplyDeleteMary, if I didn't know better, I would think you were getting ready to 'ski' down those rocks, because of the way you are holding your poles! Funny about the guy who is still bragging about eating lunch with KISS -- I hope that isn't the only thing the poor guy has accomplished in the last 40 years! (Makes me wonder if the band was already in make-up -- I mean, no one knew who they were back then -- even now, I think the only one I'd recognize without full gear is Gene Simmons.)
ReplyDeleteYour pictures of all the big rocks inspired today's scripture, from Luke 19:36-40,which highlights the Triumphant Entry into Jerusalem:
36 As He was going, they were spreading their coats on the road. 37 As soon as He was approaching, near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the miracles which they had seen, 38 shouting:
“Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord;
Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.” 40 But Jesus answered, “I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!”
Now, Mary, you can see the inspiration for Chris Tomlin's song, Made to Worship -- ...even the rocks cry out, even the heaven's shout, at the sound of his holy name... peace, Deb
So let every voice sing out
